Hi. I am just getting started in gardening - about time since I will be 65 in January. Never had enuff patience before and hated the "stoop labor" part of it. Well, I read "Vertical Gardening" and then "All New SFG" and I'm off to the races. I've built two elevated beds this fall (soil level at about 32") and have plans for maybe one or two more next year. Still holding off on the grids - don't seem to be needed before planting in spring. If anyone with elevated beds wants to give some advice, I would like to know if I would be better off to enclose the sides to keep air from blowing underneath and hold down grass growth. It would be simple to "wall" the sides with plastic roofing panels cut to size - but would that build up too much heat in the summer?

nice job!! keep us posted on your progress, and lots of pics! Do a search for "table top" aka TT gardens on this site, it might give you some insight. I don't personally use them, but lots of people here do. Welcome!! glad you\'re here glad you\'re here
