How to protect my napa cabbage from bugs?
My napa cabbage plants are growing nicely, but the leaves are riddled with holes from some little bug. Who's doing the eating, and how can I protect the plants without chemicals?

Cabbage butterflies and other moths can smell cabbages and lay their eggs underneath leaves. They can do a lot of damage.
BT (Bacillus thuringiensis - a brand name is Thuricide) is an organic spray for control of many caterpillars. BT is a natural bacteria that makes the worms quit eating. It doesn't kill the next day, but it is effective.
A row cover is another way to control these butterflies. Agribon is a brand name. Some people buy Tulle (think bridal veil material) and cover the whole bed.
I used both methods this year, and had good success.
