Yesterday, while making my cover for the strawberry bed, I thought that it sure would be nice not to have to take the cover off all of the time.
I decided on a simple wood frame with chicken wire to protect my strawberries from birds and rabbits. (this bed may hold a little spinach and lettuce too)
Anyway....maybe it's going overboard, but if you took the two ends and made a hinged door that swung open to the top, it would still be easy to access produce from both sides. Of course, the frame would need to be taller so you could comfortably bend over and reach across (this frame is 2ft tall). But I think it would work........?

Nice job! I just put a self standing chick wire frame on 2 x 2's. Yours looks so much neater then mine. For my next box I want to use a hinge with a pin like a door hinge so that I can remove the lid without unscrewing the hinge.

I am in the PNW so mine is covered with plastic but not sealed like a standing row cover (or mega cloche). I just want to keep the April-May showers off unless I invite them in. Things can drown in that volume of water. Looks a bit tacky with the plastic. But Oh, well!

Deborah ....enjoying your process.

Ahhh...I see wht you're saying, Deb...good idea. (maybe more practical, too - I like it)

Thanks for the support here, it's nice to hear feedback from others.
Most of my learning will come with experience, but it helps to get ideas and inspiration from this board.

Thank you.
