I am in cooking heaven!!!
This is the fun time of year.....everything has been picked and now instead of cooking with just a few ingredients, I can go crazy!!! I think I am on #101 for different ways to cook with butternut squash (I have butternut squash bars cooling on the counter and waiting for cream cheese frosting), DH and I had fabulous breakfast burritos yesterday with hashbrown potatoes, diced onions, and green pepper (all from the garden of course
) topped with homemade Mexican Pepper Relish (FAVORITE new canning recipe) and tomatillo salsa. Oh....and the pepper jelly on top of wheat thins with cream cheese.....I think that is going to be my new addiction. Thankfully there are 3 dozen jars of it downstairs!
My huge upright freezer that kicked the bucket last year is completely loaded with canned goods. Life is Good!!!!!

Re: I am in cooking heaven!!!
We are in the same mode...all but a couple bushel of tomatoes that we have been able to save from the cold..left on the vine ripening...needs about 4 days...but other than those...The ELECTRIC meter is spinning like a gyroscope...we are in full processing/eating/dehydrating mode...
It is so wonderful having fresh produce to cook with that would make most fancy smanchy chefs drool to have at hand...
Life IS good isn't it...

We get to indulge today...
We are digging into our Kraut stash, this is un-processed, live-culture “Probiotic... good for You food"
those pictured are quart and half gallon jars...below that the same jars of kraut, with some carrots we canned

Luci, those are half gallon and quart jars...Luci Dawson wrote:Where did you get those great quart and gallon jars?
we got them at a local farm store, that is in the Minnesota/Wisconsin/Iowa area, called Mills Fleet Farm
That being said, the half gallons jars are made by Ball too, so they should be available elsewhere.
Surprisingly, a case (6 half gallons) cost the same as a case or quarts...

I've seen them at Runnings Farm & Fleet as well - I just stood and drooled at them, Hubby would have a coronary if I brought home 1/2 gallon jars!

the only dislike I have for theses 1/2 gallon jars is washing and handling them...especially when full.
