hot weather peas

Hey,
I live in FL and have never been able to grow peas in the summer. I bought some seed from a farmers market and they are really growing in our 90 degree weather. The leaves look like the same old pea leaves that I put in every winter. They are not yet flowering, but look healthy and happy. The seller called them Puerto Rican Peas. Does anyone know what they are? Should they stay or get pulled before they become pests?

It would be great if you keep posting and provide some pictures if you can.

I'm in Iowa, so I will have to live vicaiously though you southern people for a few months. Well, I will do what I can, but it won't be like real gardening. Containers by the windows and under grow lights aren't exactly the same thing.

My guess is you have Pigeon peas, I have seen them in P.R. cuisine...they do very well in tropical climates!! You can use the green peas like fresh peas, and the dried peas like any other dried peas, beans or lentils.
google pigeon peas and see if they are not the plants you have growing
