Scarlet Runner Beans
I had a wonderful crop of Scarlet Runner Beans this year.
My first planting is nearly over and I am leaving the rest of them on the vine to make seed for next year seeing as they are an heirloom. My first seed-saving.
My second planting, and in a different spot, is still yielding about a pound of beans a day. I have frozen several pounds of beans in single portion quantities, enough for many an addition to meals in the coming winter, meanwhile I am eating and sharing as many as I can while they last.
Definately a crop for me to plant next year, but with a different set-up of trellis so that I can reach them without using a step-ladder. Also I wil use housecloth to keep the voles away, otherwise this year I would have had three trellises of beans.

Re: Scarlet Runner Beans
Kelejan,
I grew scarlett runner beans for the first time this year and did not know they have sort of furry skins on the beans.
Do you cook them the same as any other garden green bean? I just picked some yeterday and have not cooked them yet.
