Pumpkins
I have a lovely pumpkin slowly turning orange for my grandson Ian. I hope to take a picture this week after Hurricane Irene to send to him (he lives in West Falls, NY-1/2 hr from Buffalo, NY).
I also just found another baby pumpkin on the vine - so excited!!

Good for you! Pumpkins are so fun to watch. I have on HUGE pumpkin on my cinderella pumpkin plant, and one little orange on my baby pumpkin plant.

When the kids were young we used to scratch their names lightly into the surface of the young pumpkins. As the fruit grew larger the scratches scarred over and at the end of the season each child had their 'own' pumpkin.

Neat idea. Might have to try it.
Hopefully we will have pumpkins before frost gets here (we got a late start).

To put more energy into growing and ripening the fruits already on the vine, lop off the end of the vines beyond the growing pumpkins. You don't need more vines this late in the season.
