Re: Are these eggs?
They look like some type of stink bug eggs, but I'm not sure what kind. See if you can find yours here (there are several pages of images, although not all of them have id's):

Yes! A lot of the damage comes from stinging leaves and fruit (like tomatoes and peppers). Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but from what I've read I don't think that there is such a thing as a beneficial stink bug!
Despite that they are a bad bug in the garden, I find those little egg cases fascinating to look at. I found some harlequin bug eggs on my broccoli. They're black and white and kind of pretty. I did end up removing the leaf and squishing the lot, though!

Okay, after a quick Google search on "beneficial stink bugs" I stand corrected...apparently there are some!

Determining which they would require taking a entomology class. In my small garden, i would rather eliminate them, then ask questions later -- ha!

Re: Are these eggs?
I have the shield-shaped stink bugs on my cherry tomatoes.
Great, and I thought I could kill them indiscriminately...oh well. Maybe that's why they were hanging out on the tomatoes, to eat the darn caterpillars!

Re: Are these eggs?
I found eggs like these on my pepper plant... didn't know what it was so I destroyed them. Now I know they are lacewing eggs. I feel bad. The larvae eat "bad" bugs... they're called Aphid Lions (the larvae). Oh well. Live and learn... and protect THESE eggs! LOL

Tril, thank you for the PSA. I probably would have done the same thing - but they are really amazing looking.

Re: Are these eggs?
I didn't even realize they were eggs when I plucked the leaf and stomped on it. I was looking for tomato hornworms. I thought it was some form of nasty fungus. LOL I should have taken the time to look it up, but I was rushing off to the hospital and knew I didn't have time... and figured it was better to err on the side of caution.
