I have no idea.
Suggestion: send this photo to the seed company, perhaps they can tell you and send you some compensation, maybe?

I have no idea what it could be. Looks like it has blooms up the stem, between the flowers? All the sunflowers I've seen have one tall stalk, with 1 or 2 flowers at the top only, but it may be of the same 'family'
