blood and bone meal - can these be considered compost?
When it comes to 5 varieties of compost I was thinking - could one include blood, bone and even fish meal as compost perhaps? very specific compost but...? Not sure. Wondering what your thoughts are.
Re: blood and bone meal - can these be considered compost?
CHOPPER!!! Are you off your meds again?!
Do you put them into a pile to be composted? (not as a catalyst) Have you taken blood meal out of a compost pile? How much to mix with vermiculite and peat moss? Are they available and affordable around the world?
They are a good source of NPK, to be sure, but I think they fall in the fertilizer/supplement category.
Keep it simple for us slow learners.

So you are saying no? LOL. And funny you should mention the meds....
Re: blood and bone meal - can these be considered compost?
I would not consider these to be compost as they are not composted (decomposed). I consider them to be soil amendments or soil nutritional supplements. I believe the bone and blood meal are cooked, dehydrated and ground. I'm not sure how the fish emulsion is made, but it is in all probability a food industry by-product and more than likely cooked as well... Nice to see you Chopper!Chopper wrote:When it comes to 5 varieties of compost I was thinking - could one include blood, bone and even fish meal as compost perhaps? very specific compost but...?
