Hey All! I have some issues with a couple of tomato plants that I'm having trouble identifying. Symptoms include oldest/bottom leaves turning yellow followed by brown/gray. These are leaf stems and the stems also become significantly floppy compared to other healthy stems on the same plant. Any ideas??

That looks to me like a deficiency in nutrition for the plant. If you are using Mel's Mix this could be because of poor quality compost or a pH that is not balanced. I suggest checking pH, feeding your plants and have adequate water for them. How is the rest of the garden doing?

I was thinking that it was some sort of nutrutional issue as well. I'll have a soil test performed to determine pH and identify any nutrient deficiencies. The two plants these pics came from are store bought and still in the soil/pots from the store. I hesitated to put them in garden because of how quickly this issue came about. I am about half way through Mel's book and enjoying it thoroughly!! Thanks for the reply and the welcome!

Glad to have a new member join us.

Great that you have been reading the ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING BOOK and hope you finish it soon. Is your SFG built yet?

As Camprn said, thoses babies need to be planted into something bigger than the seedling pots. They have used up all the nutrition in their little pots and need the wonderful world of Mel's Mix along with a deep drink of water.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
