Hardiness zones
Hi all --
On the SFG Forums (and most other gardening forums originating in the US) -- you see a lot of talk about hardiness zones....but I had not found information to help those of us "over here" establish OUR zones.
So -- two links for us:
http://www.backyardgardener.com/zone/europe1zone.html
http://www.uk.gardenweb.com/forums/zones/hze.html
Most of us are zone 8 -- which is warmer than I thought we would be -- and includes most of us in Holland, the UK, and France. Susan in Savoie may be a 7, depending on exactly where she is, and southern Sweden is also a 7....the lucky ones in Spain could even make a 9.
Hope that helps sort out some of the confusion when the folks in the US start talking about 5b, 7a, and so on.

Re: Hardiness zones
Hi Lafee,
thanks for finding this! I have been looking for the info, but had not yet found it...
You don't happen to have last frost dates too, have you?
I've had so much trouble finding those, and I'm still not sure...

frost dates
Hi, Mirjam --
The ONLY thing I've found so far is this:
http://boldweb.com/gw/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28&Itemid=25
Scroll down toward the bottom of the page, and it gives frost dates for the Northern Hemisphere.
Zone 8 is first frost between 30 October and 30 November, and last frost between 28 Feb and 30 March, which sounds about right, actually. (even if it's been a little bizarre the last two years...we had our first frost in early October last fall...and even though the magnolias and ornamental cherries are beginning to bloom now, I'm still a little afraid we might get a late freeze.)
If I find anything else, I'll post it.
