Cabbage Worms DEFEATED! (for now)
Went out to the garden this a.m. to pick and squish . HURRAY!! No cabbage worms to be found! The center new leaves on my brussel sprouts plant are INTACT! I only found 2 yesterday, so I was VERY hopeful this a.m.
My first radishes have been harvested! My basil just keeps on keeping on. My beets bit the dust, but I will be trying again in the fall. Had BER on a few of my Romas. Picked them off, fed a little powdered milk to the plants, and so far so good. My Spinach and Lettuces are going NUTS! They're in the shade of my cucumbers and pole beans, which are really taking off! Lots of little cukes have started for B&B Pickles! Can't say much for my SS Peas, Cilantro and Parsley. Then again, didn't get the seed in the ground till second week of June. Think I'm gonna pull the peas, and start over in the fall. Moved my potted Sweet Million tomato to a sunnier location. It's
already much happier! A few days ago I removed a 5 inch sucker from it, and just for kicks stuck it down in the MM next to the
mother plant. It rooted, so I may be getting another pot. Then again,
I may just let it stay where it is, since it seems to like being next
to Mama.
I've ordered my other fall seeds, and can't wait for them to get here. Never had much luck starting seeds indoors, but I'm gonna give it a shot with the fall crops, cause it's probably gonna be mid to late August before my summer crops are ready to pull. If the indoore starts don't work out, as someone so eloquently put it, "They're only seeds."
