Just finished my first SFG and I thought I would share a few pictures of the process and finished product.

Here we go!

The boulders had been centered in that little patch for years. This being a solo project I dug a 1" deep trench in the direction I wanted to roll the boulders and went to town. Thought about fully removing them but I'm glad I didn't!

Decided to build another box (2x6) with a lattice for beans/cucumber. Half cubic yard of gravel for a 2"-3" deep covering..very nice on the feet Smile

The 4x6. Sweet 100 tomatoes, peppers (ortega, bell, jalapeno), romaine/mixed lettuce, rosemary, basil, kale, 2x watermelon. With squares to spare!

Looks real nice, but when I google 'Kellog's mixture' all I get is food recipes. We put Mel's Mix in our SFGs!

Sorry - misspelled it! Kellogg Patio Plus is what I used. I'll definitely try Mel's Mix at some point but I found this forum after it was complete Cool

OK then, welcome aboard. There's some real smart people around here, and the first thing they're gonna tell ya is to read the ALL NEW SFG book, especially Chapter Five. In the meantime, this link has some great info to help you get started

Looks wonderful, I refer to the book as my SFG Bible. I would have been overwhelmed without it! Great job, can't wait to see more pictures. It really livens up that corner of your yard!

Your garden is looking fine. You did a good job with it.

I find the SFG book great information, especially distances to plant in the squares and info about specific crops.

Just be sure to add compost each time you plant another patch of seeds or a seedling in your squares next time. You will have depleted the nutrients by then and need fresh compost to help the next crops.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.
