This is my first SFG garden (I have one 4x4) and I am brand-spanking new to this forum Very Happy . I read thru the SFG book cover to cover and followed the instructions ex-act-ly.

Help!! I've looked thru my various gardening books and can't find an answer. I posted yesterday that something was taking off with my big green tomatoes, as they were literally disappearing into thin air. I'm using chicken wire to solve that problem. BUT today as I"m working out there, I notice something else on the same plant - all the new blossoms at the top of the plant have turned brown and dead. I've wondered for the past week or so why I hadn't seen any new fruit set. Well it's obvious now that the blooms are dead/rotting/something. There are no obvious pests/insects/bugs, nothing on the soil underneath. The 4 remaining tomatoes appear fine.

What is this??? What can I do? Most importantly, I have a cherry tomato plant diagonally from this, and I dont want it to spread. I need to know if I need to yank the entire tomato plant and/or treat the soil or something.

Feel around the tomato stem and under the leaves. Maybe you have a tomato hornworm. You'll know it when you feel it. Big and soft and light green and easily hid by its coloring, the same as the plant. They can devastate a plant in short order. Tomatoes disappear, stems look like they are cut off, etc.

Other than than, just trim off the browning leaves and wait and see.

could it be critters (the disappearing tomatoes) and blossom drop? I remember having tomato plants with blossom drop before, whenour temperatures get exceedingly high. I didn't find a hornworm, but I'll keep looking.

If you've had days in the 90s, blossom drop will be inevitable.
