So I have a pest. Not a tiny pest. But a 100 pound yellow pest. My neighbors arn't exactly nice about keeping the dogs in the fence or tied up. Are there any tricks to keeping them from trampling all over the bed that I just planted? I really t'd me off when I saw paw prints all over my squares. HELP. We live out in the country and I cant really afford to build a fence over the 3 acres that is the front yard.

You may not have an animal control in the country, so, call the county police and ask what is the fine for shooting the dog. They will send a cop to tell the neighbors to corral the dog.

I did this here, and I got the neighbors attention, and she keeps her dogs up.

I'm zoned agriculture so there is no fine if it's disturbing farm animals or crops. But I get the point. We have animal control but they wont come out unless the dog bites someone. My bf has shot at the pit before but he got away. But I hate to punish a dog because they are stupid. They have been warned the last time their dog bit my daughter.

Maybe I will call animal control and see if they will give them a violation for ignoring the order. If they answer the phone that is. lol

Thanks for helping my think

I'm sorry, just to be clear there is no fine for a loose dog disturbing animals or crops? That needs to be changed. I don't think Littlejo is suggesting you actually shoot the dog just call and ask about it. I'm guessing talking to the neighbors will not curb the owners ways or you would not be posting the question here. There are dog repelents on the market, and ultrasonic motion activated
deturents as well on the market. I have not had the need for them so I never used them but some others may have.
If all else could you afford to make pikes out of sharpened tomato stakes and encircle your garden like this /////////////////////// Help giant pest. 889526

I know this is a trouble some matter so can you just use deer fencing around the garden.

Hey I could dig a moat and put the tomatoe sticks in it lol. I like that idea. No I don't think she was suggesting to kill the poor dog either. I think I will get the orange fence at the depot tomorow. Or Put up a hot wire. I already have all the stuff for that. Sometimes it helps me think to get suggestions. My poor bf will be a busy bee the next two days. Guess I will actually have to cook good food instead of quick food.

Deer fencing or a hot wire fence sounds like a lot less work than a moat and pikes. It would give the plane a midevil flare though. Yes treating your BF to a nice meal would be a grand reward. That fence comes in other colors now too if safety orange is not your style. Wink

No! It's not the dogs fault. But, the cops will come to keep it from escalating and you from killing the neighbor. Remind them of the dog bite and that you hope it does not happen again.

Hot wire would be good. or prob just some 2.5 ft metal fence(metal will keep out the rabbits)
