cucumbers keep wilting on the vine
I get so excited about getting new cucumbers and with the exception of 2 (1 on each plant that my neighbor gave me out of pity) they all seem to wither and die on the vine, shriveling up into an ugly caterpillar looking thing. Any thoughts on this?

Joe
Sometimes the cucumbers will wilt if they were not pollinated.
Check this video for information on how to hand pollinate. Cucmbers would be handled the same as Squash.

Re: cucumbers keep wilting on the vine
Furbalsmom, I like this video. I've pollenated a few zucchini flowers, but have not used a paint brush. I just took the male flower, pealed back the petals and stuck the pollin down into the femal flower. But I don't think it has worked yet. Maybe the paint brush is the key... maybe a lighter touch is necesary?
Here is a link to a photo tutorial on pollinating cucumbers. I plan on doing this.

I'm going out right now to lok for male and female flowers on my cukes.
