Re: HELP bush beans trying to climb
Need more info. What exactly is happening? Are they still acting like bushes too? What is it they are trying and in what way? Not quite sure what you mean. Do you have a picture?
Re: HELP bush beans trying to climb
The first half a foot looks bushy then each plant is sending up a long shoot. I planted two types said to be bushes, Roma Improved and Blue Bush. I guess since they are all doing it, it must be "normal" one of the Blue Bush plants reached one of my hoops and is wrapping around it. Some of the Romas are wraping around each other. I have never grown bush beans before.

I've seen this happening this year, too. Mine were trying to get out of the shade cast by my earlier planted potatoes and broccoli plants. It certainly isn't anything I'm worried about, though. They flowered and started putting out pods just like they always do.

Re: HELP bush beans trying to climb
Mine started invading everything around them, so I built cages for them from 2" x 4" fencing.
They fooled me for a while, too, I thought they were pole beans for a bit.
