Phew! It has been a long time to get to this point as I've been so busy on other projects.

I have more room in my front landscaped area to put anther 4x4 bed in a shadier spot. There is also the backyard boxes that are slowly going into place. My hope is to have that done for a fall crop if at all possible.

So these are the pics for the front. My husband made the raised wooden beds 2 yrs ago and they get full sun so I'll be adding some shade cloth this year.

Love the brick raised bed near the porch/steps. The other two boxes look like they are pretty deep too, did you fill the bottoms with something else, then Mel's Mix for the top 6 or 8 inches?

Keep up the good work, and keep us posted with pictures as your garden matures.

Yes, I have been vegetable gardening in them the past few years with some bagged garden soil so all I needed to do was dig out the top 8 and put in the mix. I'm amazed at how light and fluffy the Mel's mix is. Unfortunately, the neighborhood cat thinks so too.

I'll be adding some steaks and the plastic netting to the wooden boxes once the sun gets over the house.

My husband measured and clipped our old hose parts together so the soaker hoses are in the boxes and garden hose crosses over the drive and steps. It makes it so much nicer.

This is one solution I used to keep the cats out of my round foot garden (a 24 inch bowl on my semi enclosed porch. The cat would come lie down in the bowl and crush my babies. It was not my original idea (I forgot who posted this first Embarassed

) but the forks worked great.

Soaker hoses are one of the better solutions to keeping your garden watered without damaging the plants by getting water on the leaves.

The forks are BRILLIANT! And I have quite a few since I wash and reuse. I have containers that will eventually get something in them ... plus forks.

If only we could plant a "steak" plant and get nice juicey ribeyes or t-bones to grow!!! Now THAT would be my kind of garden!!! Can you tell I'm not a vegetarian? Laughing

LOL, I was talking about steaks earlier today... guess I still had them on my mind.

I do have stakes as well and they will be holding the barrier in place.

Ceashels, hope you are okay with a little good natured teasing. LOL! We get kind of silly here at times and it looks like you will be able to join in the fun.

Your garden looks great. I particularly like the brick planter. That is what I have in the front of my house and use for my tomato bed. It faces due south and the tomatoes love it there. The brick really hold in the heat and keep the soil nice and warm. It is nice having the extra height too so you don't have to bend down so far.

I love the width of the brick work as well... mostly because I can sit and reach. I put some sunflowers in the back corner so I don't need to reach deep and crush anything in
front of them.

And having steaks on my mind today really makes me a little disappointed that tomorrow will be brats and dogs but I've got plenty of forks! LOL
