Weather junkies...

June will be swingy in it's temps. Some hot, some cool. June is a wet month, but not this year. We will have our storms, but will be drier than average.

July is as hot as it gets usually. No records this year, though, and 100* will be hard to come by if we see it at all. First half of month is hotter than 2nd half. But, July will have few storms and be dry when the month wraps up. Believe it or not, after this winter and spring, we will be talking about drought.

August will carry on early with some of the heat, but will be a flip-floppy month in terms of temperatures. No 100* stuff on the horizon this year. August will also continue the drought talk. This month will finish below average and have people complaining about the lack of moisture for their gardens and yards.

All in all, it will be a swingy summer when it comes to temps. We will have some hot, and we will have some cool. This summer will lean on the dry side once we get past June as the La Nina pattern controlling us since December fades off. Dry, however, doesn't mean no bugs. They will be whoppers this year with all the spring rains!

One caveat: Summer forecasts are always dependent on hurricane season. This season looks to be active. However, for the lower midwest to get heavy hurricane leftovers, the storms need to make landfall in the Gulf around New Orleans. Keep an eye out, if that happens, the dry summer could look like a west Texas monsoon.

Happy Gardening!

Hmmm... I wonder what that means for us in the north? Where did you find this info, BBG?

This is something our local weatherman does on TV for each season. It's a local thing, but I bet others do the same these days. Check your tv station's website for a possible clip?

I'm already complaining about the dry. As one who has to carry water to the garden, I'd love a morning shower 3 or 4x a week! Shocked
