My onion flowers & calendula are getting lots of visits.  And my bee balm is starting to bloom!

My 100,000 honeybees don't hang around my yard for the flowers much, only the water dishes. Shocked

There are a lot of bumbles missing this year.

That's how I feel too. I have to get right in among the plants they're feeding on to water the plants, and they don't seem bothered by it. If anything, the water draws them to wherever I'm spraying.

Yeah, I get a kick out of it.  Like I'm being a successful foster daddy to the bees.

I agree with you, Marc, except I feel like a foster-mommy.

Ah me, I did not notice this post prior to bringing back the thread about pollinator havens.  Anyway, camprn, I have to agree with yolos about the bumble bees... I also have an abundance of them (I live just north of yolos).

That would have been my choice but alas, winter was brutally long, and hard, and killed many.

I start to feel some joy, too, when I see bees showing interest in something I planted.  I discovered another plant that attracts bees this year when I found a bunch of them buzzing around my cucumber blossoms.  It wasn't just the occasional one or two I was seeing around the marigolds last year - whichever one that first discovered them brought a few friends on the next visit!  They're usually there every morning now.

Bees are in heaven in my front yard!

I planted two monardae, a Rose Queen Salvia, Borage, and catmint.  The bees also buzz around the delphinia, roses, and clover, not to mention some of the blossoms on my food plants.

I've even seen two or three bumblebees.   Very Happy

A former neighbor, who had a bee farm next door, has now decided to give the business to his son.  He lives about 6 miles from here and has permission from the owners of his old homestead to leave a couple of hives.  Wow, the bees are having a ball.  Lots of clover and bee balm.  I leave the clover grow near the garden even though it makes that area look rugged.

Also get some raw honey when he is done extracting.  Can't get any better than that.  Helps my allergies.

Oh yeah, I am definitely seeing bees of all varieties, bumbles, honeybees, and little quick hover bees. In fact, while picking the patty pans today, I disturbed one fella who made his dissatisfaction known in no uncertain terms! I was glad I got out of his way ASAP! lol

They love my zinnias, and echinachea, and my lantana, too. The hummingbirds like the lantana, as well as my loosestrife, Buddleia, and the bumblebees seem to gravitate to the hollyhocks.

I think I am seeing mostly Bumbles, but they are certainly welcome!  I threw a package of clover seeds across my lawn last year, and this year I have it blooming everywhere.  Come and get it, buzzers!

Right, GG! I have left a bunch of rogue clover in my perennial bed, love clover, actually. I remember pulling the little tiny florets out as a child and sucking the nectar out into my mouth...bet kids don't know you can do that.. .I will fix that with 2 right now!

I pulled back the bridal tulle this morning to allow these bees to get to the broccoli flowers.  I love snapping off the tender stems and eating the flowering heads.  They are sweet! Are you seeing bees? - Page 23 Bees_o10

Sorry no bees this week gone ,   yet again the only thing I've seen today are rain drops , massive rain drops , stinging hail like big marrow fat peas , sleet & big wet sloppy snow flakes .
Couldn't you guys have kept it over on your side of the pond for a change ? Laughing

Pretty funny Sanderson.  I got stung by a bee today.  I was watering the garden and the aisles were wet and the bees were flying around the aisle trying to soak up some water.  One must have gotten angry or threatened and stung me on the leg.  I need to buy them a large water reservoir to sit near their hive.  The one I put out there keeps drying up a couple times a day.
