This year has been wet to say the least. The house area is pretty hill so are yard dries out pretty quickly.

Well this is my first garden and I just built the box this past weekend. I am pretty excited and hope everything works great. I have a lower light yard. Only get direct sun on garden from sun up till about 1-130pm.

Plan on lots of lettuce, onions, carrots, parsley, basil. And a few other larger single plants like broccoli and cauliflower just to see if I can get it to grow. I will be adding some tomato's and peppers when it gets a lil warmer. But my yard warms up very slowly cause of the amount of shade I have.

Well enough of my rambling here are a few pictures of our excursion.

May not be the prettiest box but it was built with my hands and done as a family.

Lookin' good. I hope you get some nice crops from the bed. By summer it'll be warm even in the mornings so the morning sun will be good.

Probably more cool-weather crops would do well there, like broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, greens, lettuce, radishes, spinach.
If the tomatoes get 6-8 hrs of sun a day during the summer, they, too, should do well.
I think you've got a good plan.
Welcome to the board and good luck on your first SFG.

Done as a family is HUGE! Good for you guys. Welcome aboard, too!!

I think you've found a great community here. I hope you get more active when you get settled. Poke around a bit. You will find regional information and specific information regarding composting and pests. Obviously, you have the picture thing figured out. I hope we see more of you!

Nice to have you join us. SFG is a great way to get the whole family involved. Looks like you did a good job on the box and nice to have the kids help too. Kids love gardening.

Please keep us posted on your progress. We want to see how well it does.

Again, Welcome!
