OLD SFG DIRECT SEEDING TIP
I don't remember if this in the new book or not. Mel had this great tip, out in the box after zip zapping you can use vermiculite to plant your seeds in. Not only does it help keep the seeds moist but you know where they are are so you need not water where there would be no benifit in doing so. I have found it especialy helpful to mark those tiny lettuce seeds. I just make indentations where I am going to plant the seeds add the vermiculite mist to wet it and put the seeds on top.

Re: OLD SFG DIRECT SEEDING TIP
That's a great tip for knowing where to look for seedlings to emerge, but I would still water everywhere else. I find that if the MM dries out, it's extremely hard to rehydrate it. I water all of my squares, even the empty ones every time I water.
I will definitely use this tip to help me remember where I planted the seeds though. Thanks!

This.
But, I, too, agree it's a great tip to eliminate the guesswork of "is that a weed or my seed?"
