I planted mine in the fall and they aren't happy campers in Arizona during the winter with temps in the 30's. Lost a bunch (though none had beans yet) and the ones that have survived looked like they are ok but choosing to hibernate.

Hi Everyone!

I just placed my order for Edamame seeds through Burpee.com! flower

Thanks everyone for the info.

I am hoping to plant quite a few squares after the frost date.

Edamame is one of my favorite things to eat. I can't imagine it with beer, but with a touch of salt as a appetizer for sushi...YUM! Saki optional!

I thought the name meant "hairy bean."

A soy is a soy...it's an edamame when its "baby" stage. I had to laugh last night when I saw a high end seed company marketing edamame seeds. I found some Ferry Morris soybean seeds at a box store and they were my first seed purchase for the garden.

I'm AMAZED you have to plant so many!

I'm dangerous around beans...I like to eat them right off the vine!

Maybe I'm part rodent?

I am new to SFG, but I have grown edamame the regular way for the past 3 years. I never got enough to freeze, but it tastes very good boiled with a little salt.
