Newbie from Northwest Tennessee!
Hi, I am new to SFG. I live Tennessee near Reelfoot Lake (zone 7). I LOVE gardening, but my garden always seems to get out of hand, so I am very excited about SFG. I teach preschool (18 3 yr. olds) in a public school and have a very, very, small farm. I have four dogs, a cat, a cockatiel, 2 Nigerian dwarf goats, and some chickens. I enjoy growing and preserving food. My hobbies include, besides gardening (flowers and veggies), photography, cooking, quilting, sewing, scrapbooking, and reading. I have the new SFG book and have read it. I have several plants that will be "vining" plants (beans, squash, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers) I am trying to plan my garden and how many boxes I will need before beginning. Other veggies we enjoy growing are: onions, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, peppers, spinach and herbs. We also like cantalope and watermelon. I can't wait to get an education on SFG from this site. I know there is a wealth of information here. Is there any other information that I need to know????

Thank you choksaw. I do stay very busy, but school will be out in May, so I will have every morning in the summer to do my gardening. I loved seeing your pictures and all of the others in the showcase. I can't wait to get started so I can post pics, too.

Howdy and welcome to the SFG Forum and family. I say family because we have common goals and care for each other and each other's gardens. We want your garden to be a success the very first year. So if we can help in any way please post your questions and we will try our best to come up with a good answer.
God Bless, Ward.

Hello, Reelfoot gardener!
Hey, it's good to see someone posting here who's near my neck of the woods - I'm between Sikeston and Poplar Bluff, MO, not too far away from you, and we used to farm near New Madrid. I remember taking the Tiptonville Ferry to swim in Reelfoot when I was a kid. I was terrified, and thought we'd never get across the Mighty Mississippi alive.
We planted our first SFG box a week ago, and I'm really excited about this method. If the weather ever dries, maybe we can get in the garden to make more boxes.
