Re: First Tromboncino female flower
Spaghetti squash are determinant? I've grown them twice and the vines reached over 8 feet up the trellises?
Re: First Tromboncino female flower
Washevelak, we don't have them around here, but they sound dreadful!! I"m sorry!!
Sanderson, there are both, determinate and indeterminate...apparently the first batch a couple of years ago were indeterminate and this year what we planted was determinate. I'm tossing those seeds...I just always assumed there were only vining ones
Two years ago, they were climbing all over, this year, just plants. I checked the seed packet, and sure enough if you read on the back, it says 24" high......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thing is, I didn't buy any seeds for these. This is a packaging opps!

Re: First Tromboncino female flower
My bad. It is a Canadian Crookneck Winter Squash. Ancestor of the Butternut. Good thing I didn't cut it down today!
Re: First Tromboncino female flower
HELP! One of my female blossoms opened up, but the males are still closed buds. Will the female blossoms wait a few days for the males to pollinate or is that little squash doomed before it even gets started?

Re: First Tromboncino female flower
I wanted to take apart a male bud and look for pollen, but I have vertigo today and can't bend over. Tomorrow probably won't be any better. It always takes a few days to go away. After that it will probably be too late.sanderson wrote:It may be domedI had a lot of spinsters this year.

Re: First Tromboncino female flower
Patience Little Grasshopper. There will be more females. Right now, just get better.

Re: First Tromboncino female flower
Poor, confused tromoncino still trying.
Still no male and female blossoms open at the same time, but these 2 babies are hanging in there, in spite of that and nights in the 30s.

Re: First Tromboncino female flower
I can't believe this puppy is still growing strong. I swear it never saw a boy blossom. So, how big should it get before I harvest? Can it stay on the vine with night temps in the mid to high 30s?
