New to SFG!
I just ordered my beds from the website-woo hoo! Now to gather the soil components. Found a supplier of vermiculite, just need to figure out how much of everything i need. I plan on building 1 4x4, 2 3x3s, 1 4x8 beds. Haven't decided what to plant where yet except tomatoes and cukes.
I look forward to my future harvests (hopefully)!

Re: New to SFG!
to the Boards!!
You are going to find a great bunch of folks here with a lot of knowledge. ask any questions that you might have and you are sure to get a response.
I would also go to your regional forum as well and introduce yourself there. You will find even more information that is more closely related to your growing season. you might even find some neighbors. I found a bunch of local folks here when i first joined.
Here is a link to the Mel's Mix Calculator and should help you determine how much you need of the various components.
Good luck in your first year, it mine as well, and if you wish share pictures we all LOVE pictures.
Again to SFG

Re: New to SFG!
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

So glad to have ya!
Waiting can be the hardest part of SFG, but don't fret. There is always something to do. Have your started planning out your bed/s yet? If not, that can be a bit of fun in and of itself.
Here is a companion planting guide. You don't have to follow it 100%, but it is helpful in identifying things that absolutely hate or absolutely love each other. http://www.ghorganics.com/page2.html#ALFALFA:
Here is an online garden design program. The list of veggies is limited, but functional. I used it and loved it. Check it out.

If you have any questions about anything SFG or gardening in general please feel free to ask, and remember to keep your All New SFG book near you. The ANSFG will be a lifesaver for you as you go about planning and working your garden. Starting on page 254 Mel has included a bunch of planting schedules. Once you figure out your last frost date (http://davesgarden.com/guides/freeze-frost-dates/) these charts will be very helpful for you.
And, as always, we love pictures around here, so if you get a chance please post some!
Take care and happy gardening!
