this could be the type of pest I birthed - but I doubt my children would have done this because they are just as excited about the garden as I am but when I went out today I noticed what I thought was a weed blown up against the garden fence but I found out quickly it was my YELLOW SQUASH RIPPED RIGHT OUT OF ITS SQUARE.

It was so beautiful too - with about 8 florets starting Sad

I didn't have any little roots coming off of it - just a stick out the bottom, it wasn't shriveled so I stuck it right back in the square and gave it lots of water. Is this futile? Should I just go ahead and put a new seed in there?

what could have done this? we have had beating wind lately here in N texas, but the zucchini plant has done fine - did it have compromised roots? Or should I just assume my kids let the dog into my garden area and are afraid to fess up?

Why is it that the foods you feel so/so about flourish and the foods you LOVE struggle?

The winds here have been brutal too! However, nothing has been pulled up by the wind. My Bell Pepper plant had some severely damaged leaves due to the wind, and think my summer squash has blown a bit, but stayed pretty grounded.

I think my dog made it down to you. She destroys more than I can plant when I don't watch her closely. I never thought my dog would be my primary pest....lol.

I've heard of the "critter tax" where you grow tomatoes first for the birds, then for the squirrels, then finally for you. I think I have a DogTax!

It wouldn't hurt to add a few seeds for insurance, but squash are pretty hardy - several years ago a friend of mine was sick of her squash (yellow crookneck and zucchini) so she pulled them out and threw them on the trash pile. With their roots exposed to the blazing CA sun, with no water or soil, and laying topsy turvy, THE THINGS JUST KEPT ON PRODUCING!!!

I know the feeling I came home from work the other morning to find one of the cucs I am growing in a pot and staking out at an angle was run into by the neighbors dog (there was a whitness) and nearly killed. I restaked it am I am hoping for the best. I like dogs, just not running amuck through my garden Evil or Very Mad . I can hardly wait for my TT SFG to be complete.
