I was only gone for 2 weeks, Honest
Just got back today, and lookie what I found.
this kale was partially harvested before I left
French breakfast radish had just started to bulb up
planted these peas just before leaving
potatos had been frost bitten and wasn't sure they would come back. Guess they really are tough.
broccoli finally decided to grow and turnips took off
mustard greens on steroids? ie MM
Guess I'll be eating good.
Will plant tomatos, cukes and peppers this weekend. Will need to free up some squares before I can plant the squash, cantaloupe, and sugar baby melons

Ok, I'm packing my bags & going away for two weeks if I have a chance of coming back to a garden like that!

Sherry, what kind of (I'm guessing) bug net have you fastened around your beds? Looks very sensible and somewhat like it came from a fabric store. Inquiring minds want to know.

Nylon bridal veil illusion from Joanne Fabrics or Hancock Fabrics. I used the 108" wide which runs $2.99 yd at Joanne's. They are having a sale right now, and I picked up some extra last week with a 50% off coupon.

Kay,
What do you plan on doing with the "veil" once the peas need trellising? I just opened mine today to make room for my climbers. And, I'm a bit worried the the critters will get in the garden now because I have no way to close the netting and let the peas climb the trellis at the same time.

Check out the pics again. I moved the hoops up a square and hooked the veiling to the grid. But I need to secure the hoop better. Not perfect but still some protection I hope.

Brilliant, Kay. Just when I thought I was an experienced gardener, I start learning all these new things. Who 'd a thunk it?

Here is a picture of the other bed that has peas. These were already up and reaching for a trellis when I left town.

Your garden looks incredible! I need to leave town for two weeks too. You really are going to be eating good. If you can't eat it all feel free to ship it on out to the mountains. I'd be glad to help you with it.
