Hi! My name is Stacie and this is my first year to try SFG. I am still trying to learn how to do things on the forum so I only hope to post one picture this time. I keep typing my post, but then when I go to "Gallery" to select a picture the post I was working on is gone. I can't figure out how to post a picture, then type a sentence, then post another picture. If anyone can explain I would greatly appreciate it. Hopefully I will do better at gardening than at the tech stuff.
Anyway, we live on about 1/3 of an acre right now, and the backyard is pretty small and shady (though I am trying to find someone to take a tree down for me at an affordable price). Here is a picture from one of the gates.

Hi Stacie and welcome to the forum! That is a very impressive garden you have for an experienced gardener, let alone a new SFG'er. Beautiful job! I hope that you are able to get some more sun to you babies as they will love you for it, and grow nice and big in return.

Regarding posting multiple pictures, someone else may have a better way, but I think if you open the gallery in a separate tab from the one you are writing your post in, you can go back and forth to make copies of pictures in your album that way, without losing the screen with your message.

The only question I have is that the beds seem rather wide and deep, so are the areas where there are no plants areas that you step on to get to the plants in the middle?

What MG said, plus:

You can post a picture directly from your computer, without putting it in the Gallery first. Step by step instructions are in the HOW TO... forum near the top of the index page.

When I post multiple pictures, I find it easiest to be in 'edit' mode rather than WYSIWYG mode. You can safely switch back and forth, you won't lose anything. This button turns pink in WYSIWYG mode.

Glad to have you join us and thanks so much for sharing the picture. Great Garden there! You sure do have a lot in a little space.

Looks like some kids stuff in the yard, do you have "helpers" at your house?

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for the info. I had already read the "How To" section, but was still having a hard time. Hopefully I will have it now...

In the one bed that is closest in the pictures above things are different than all of the other beds. I have a total of six 4' x 4' SFG plus that are 10' x 3' plus one that is 20' x 1'. The one above is my old garden converted so it is too wide, but I've tried to plan it as best as I can.

Here is a picture of the "outside garden" as it is outside my fence in one of the side yards.

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN Outsid10

Here is one of the "east gardens".

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN East_210

Here is the other "east garden".

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN East_110

Here is my "melon garden". I had all of the big rocks surrounding some trees in the front so I decided to use them to create a melon garden. It is filled with Mel's Mix and I am growing cantelope and watermelon. I plan to build a trellis to lean on the fence and another on the end to lean against the house.

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN Melon_10

Here is one of the "west gardens". Both of these gardens have a trellis. In fact all but one of the 4' x 4' gardens have a trellis.

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN West_210

Here is the another "west garden".

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN West_110

Here is the 20' x 1' bed of peas and carrots.

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN 20_fee10

This is the third "west bed". I am trying to name the beds so that we can compare the pictures over time and not get them confused.

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN West_210

This is a bed of lettuce, onions and cucumber, though unless I am able to get the afore mentioned tree down there will not be enough sun for the cucumbers I am afraid.

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN Bed_of10

Not to waste any space that gets a little sun I made this little area into a place for a few strawberries and some lettuce.

A lot in a little space in Franklin TN Lettuc11

I also have a lot of things planted in containers, but won't post pictures of those. Hopefully I will find someone who can cut this tree down and give all of this plenty of sun. I think a lot of it can get 6 hours a day, but it may be close and it may be in spurts. We will see....

So glad to have ya!

Your SFG looks absolutely fantastic! You definitely get 5 out of 5 stars! Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven Like a Star @ heaven

Now that you've figured out how to post pictures I hope you continue doing so. I think you are in the middle south region with me. I hope you take a look down there. There are two posts that are just dying for more pictures. One is called April in the Middle South Garden and the other is can Doesn't it feel good to eat your own produce.

It seems to me like you are off to an excellent start, but if you have any question please feel free to ask away. We are always willing to help where ever we can. Also, if you have any tips or tricks to share please feel free to do so. The more info the better!

Take care and happy gardening!

Wow ...thats one heck of a start.

But I've got to ask ..... is their any significance to the statuary?

And if so, do they have names?

Thanks. I've been working hard, but it's been so fun. The different little statuary has no meaning in particular and don't have names. I just like them because they look pretty, though there is a "Faith" theme.

WYSIWYG mode doesn't work on all browsers. If you don't see the button, your browser doesn't support it.

WOW Stacie! I'm in Franklin, too, but started fairly small with two 4 squares and an 11'x19' existing garden from several years ago. I am finding the 4 squares are so much easier to work with and I'm really excited about the veggies growing. I hope you'll keep this forum updated on your garden. It looks fabulous! What a huge selection of veggies you're going to have. Oh, and I'm so envious of your rain bucket! Bet it's overflowing today!! Congrats!

Hi Jennie, So the thread where I posted everything that is planted in the boxes is gone? Oh my...it took me so long to refer to my charts to get all labeled correctly to share. Lesson learned.

Stacie,
You have put a lot of work into you SFG. You call that starting out small. It makes me feel like I am starting out minute. I am only doing 1 4x4 box this season. I also have others growing in pots. I am even doing potatoes in a 5 gallon bucket...of which the green tops are already above the rim of the bucket.

Since we have had the huge flocks of birds this year, have you had any issues protecting your plants?
