Do I have compost?
Today, I bought 2 bags of what I thought was composted cow manure. When the guy loaded it, I saw the bags actually said somthing like "Humas with cow manure" . I asked if this was compost, and he didn't know. Since he already loaded it and I had paid for it inside I didn't want to go back in and ask again.
Does anyone know if I have compost or just some raw manure mixed with humas? (the word compost is nowhere on the bag.)
Can I use this in SFG to replenish squares? I had also planned on planting potatoes in a container with the bottom layer being compost. Will this work?

Does the manufacturer have a website you can check? I would think the manure would be composted, but I'd hate to tell you wrong. Humus is a type of compost.

humus
Humus from a bacterium point of view is spent compost, no longer to be used as their food source. It is nutrient rich at that point but no longer actively decomposing. Look Wikipedia over for more info. In a few thousand years the compost in your SFG boxes will naturally become humus. It sounds like humus mite alter the soil density a little more than regular compost. It would not be my first choice for MM but probably in smaller amounts will not cause a noticeable difference. I you have a corn or potato box use it in there then recycle it in your compost pile would be my solution.
