I like your plan. It's looks really good thus far.

I'm concerned about is your okra. Okra gets REALLY tall. I'd be a bit concerned about being able to reach the squares behind it. I suppose you could stretch to reach the middle, but between the okra and the trellis you are really going to be stretching come harvest time.

One thing you can do to get around this is to plant things there that are going to be harvested pretty late. That way you don't have to worry about whether or not you can reach around to the middle.

Coincidentally, this is a problem I am also going to have in my garden as well.

Also, are you going to need a trellis for your garden peas?

Thanks. I have never grown okra before and I didn't know where to put it. I'm completely open to suggestions. Also, will the garden peas need staking or can I plant a bush variety?

I wish I could give you some good advice here. Sad I am a very bad at layouts. I make them for my own garden and then never come close to following them. I stick vine crops on the trellis squares, LOL and everything else is a crap shoot!

Are you planning to plant anything like carrots, beets, parsnips, radishes or lettuce. Or how about a few herbs? These are all shorter plants which could be grown on the outside boxes to you can reach them easily or reach over them to get at your taller plants. Perhaps some spinach or swiss chard. And maybe even a few flowers. There are also climbing varieties of beans which are nice and you can make a teepee of tall sticks and let them grow up those. It makes a wonderful visual addition to the garden as well.

I might move the peppers forward and put the zucchini in those squares but other people may have other ideas. In my growing zone peppers don't get very tall but zucchini does. So I would have those two trade places.

You can grow bush peas OR a variety that needs to be trellised. The sugar snap peas that I grow are bush type but the kind I grow to freeze, if we actually have any that last that long, need trellising.

Best of luck to you. It is looking great.

Gwynn
