Is it possible to have too many lady bugs? I know they are good for the garden and I was worried about pests so I bought some at a local nursery and now have 2000 ladybugs in my yard and garden. Is that okay? Will they just find a home somewhere else?

If you read up on them, their migration pattern suggest very few will stay. It's the down fall of lady bugs. I was thinking about getting some in bulk and then going to all my neighbors around my house to release them in hopes most will migrate to my yard ;o)

Ahhh... so I should have let them go around the neighborhood in hopes they would come here. Well I let followed the directions on the bag and it said spray down the garden to get the pests away and then let them go at the base of your plants, so they can make homes etc. So most of my plants are still little sproutlings, but I let them go at the base of my plants and my sproutlings and pretty much every where else because like I said it had 2000 ladybugs in the bag. I then went to the front yard and let more go in the butterfly garden. They are crawling absolutely everywhere. I hope some will stay. I definitely don't think I need 2000, but it is good to know that many will leave.

I did some research and it looks like lady bugs will eat mealybugs when they are young. To get rid of adult mealy bugs you need mealybug destroyers which are black ladybugs? Not 100% sure on that one. You could at least know that the ladybugs would be eating any offspring the mealybugs are producing.
