A friend of mine found a HUGE yellow and black garden spider sitting in the middle of a gorgeous pinwheel web stretched between 2 of her shrubs - she named it Spike.

Isn't that maddening!

I know they are only curious, but they scare the mess out of me every single time. The good thing is they don't sting unless you walk around smacking at them and trying to step on them. I try to remind myself of that.

The males are irritating as well. They will dive at you if you get too close to their holes, but if I remember correctly they can't sting, so no harm done except my raised heart rate!

Honey bees are smaller and slimmer than bumble bees maybe they don't eat as much honey. @NHGardener maybe if I name them they won't scare me so much but how do you tell them apart?

Still have seen no HBees but my garden and work buddy said he saw 4 in his garden yesterday. The EPA needs to take and keep the nictatoid pestisides off the market.

My bees are supposed to arrive tomorrow, but it is sooooo cold (25F right now) and it is going to be raining that I hope the bee man holds off for a few days before delivery.
