So, yeah...Box on the left is my first one, full of greens, herbs, veggies, and other good things.
Second one is patiently waiting for seedlings that are still in the daycare center in the garage. Mostly Onions, Fennel, Carrots and Lettuce. I have a third box in the wings, not sure what I'll stick in there.

Nice Job!
Using table tops will always get my vote too.

Beautiful Boxes! Way to go! I love them.
Just a word of caution! Do a little reading on Fennel and companion planting....seems it does not play nice with others. I have read it is best planted away from everything else in your garden.
I have ZIPPO experience with this but have read it over and over and over again in various books and articles.
Happy SFG'ing!

Jennie,
Thanks. Good to know. I did some looking and found wiki to be the most helpful, listing Fennel as allelopathic. Go figure.
Another side said it attracts ladybugs and repels fleas, so maybe I'll move them over by the dog's kennel (just to the left of the first box). It grew wild where I grew up, so I forever associate it with heat, and the sound of cicadas. I'll be ok without it
Thanks again.

Fennel is also a host plant for swallowtail butterflies. I grow it just for them! The caterpillars are SO cool!

@BackyardBirdGardener - Yeah, Wiki is always my last ditch place to look, but somehow lands at the top of the search results. Typically, I'll get a second opinion...which is why I was surprised to find accurate information this time
@Nancy - I don't know if we have swallowtails in SoCal, but I did look and notice that I don't have anything planted in adjacent squares...I'll let the plants mature a bit and move them over by the kennel. I'm actually planning a butterfly garden for the sideyard, so this will go quite nicely.
