Soil Mixture
I live above Atlanta, GA, Canton. I can not find vermiculite. Is there a decent mix I can go to Lowes or Home depot to pick up? How much for a 4' x4' x 7" deep?
thanks

Re: Soil Mixture
If i remember correctly my dad was a brick mason and we poured vermiculite in block cavities for insulation and moisture absorption...

Re: Soil Mixture
Another great spot would be places that sell gas-log fireplaces. I just found out today that the white crumbly stuff under the fake logs.....that glows like burning embers......is vermiculite.
Worth asking about. And, welcome aboard!!

Re: Soil Mixture
Contact your local nurseries and feed and seed stores. If they don't have it in stock they can definitely order it in for you.
+1 on the database linked above. Try Pike's Nursery. There are some around you in Woodstock and Marietta if you are able to drive a little ways.
Let us know if you need additional help.

Soil mixture
Athens GA at Cofer's. They carry medium grade, which I am using. Works fine but I will have to replace sooner, in a few years. Cofer's is ordering some coarse grade from South America. According to them, there is none to be had in our area.
