Bruce that looks good and is very helpful.

I do have one question about the 18 inch spacing, wouldn't that be a maximum of 4 squares? You could also put some smaller plants like leaf lettuce, carrots, radishes or beets around the outside edge of the four square area.

Someone here explained the shortcut to this exact thing.

12 inches across make a square foot. Divide plant spacing on package into 12 and square it (multiply by itself).

For example....

3" spacing. 12/3 = 4. 4^2 = 16 per square.
4" spacing. 12/4 = 3. 3^2 = 9 per square.

And, so on.
