ok= WOW. corn 4 per sq.
lol
gee
now what?
I already planted it.
If I try to dig them up it will put them in shock , so I should leave them
alone.
So what if I sowed some seeds in between the transplants? The crop will be about 2 weeks apart from each other.

wow==im so stupid!

Took a pic of the arched trellis beds after I transplanted some tomato plants several days ago.
When I transplanted the tomato plants the weekly forecast had nooooooo cold temps and no frost in sight. Two days after I transplanted them , the future forecast changed to cold 36 degrees. I had to cover the entire trellis system with plastic. Thats a big sheet of plastic. We had a light frost last night. Now again we have no cold weather in the forecast. Every night is between 50 and 62 degrees for the next week. We have gone past our last frost date. Frosty =stay away.
Anyway. those tomato plants were desperate to be transplanted. Their green was lighting up.
Just before the light frost we had winds beating us up from the north and the south. Poor plants.
It will take a week for them to recuperate.
Meanwhile, the potatoes are doing great. The rosemary is bushing out. The onions are standing tall. The elephant garlic is putting out green stems. The Sweet Pea Currant tomato plants were pounded by hail last week but coming back nice and bushy after loosing half their leaves and suckers. The Sweet Pea Currant is such a small dainty plant. It's also compact. Would make an excellent planter tomato.
All the cukes and mini cantaloupes survived the frost. I have them planted in the concrete block holes and want them to grow over the sides of the bed.

I really need to read my book

I am unedumacated about that also. It's my understanding that 4 per square is for short season corn. People talk about growing 4 per square, but I have seen very little feedback on how it worked. I have never looked eye to eye with short season corn.

I grow long season corn. Is that old school? If you go grave digging you can find my pictures of long season corn rootballs. There's no way I would plant 4 to a square. My 'corn patch' is 8x25 and I plant 1 per square foot. Weather permitting, it's a wonderful harvest that lasts two people a year. (with freezing some)

wow, Thank You to the SFG foundation or who ever came up with the NON- SFG Gardening.

Life has been great. We were spared from the tornado outbreak with minor damages.
Minor damages to the gardens. Even minor damages to tomato plants close to the walls of the greenhouse.

Life has been very busy. But things have slowed down now.

Our last frost is normally around April 8th. We had a light frost May 15. A whole month later.
shock!

I have many pictures of many things and will post a few at a time between my chores.

I do hope everyone is having a great growing season.
I been trying to read the topics and catch up.

when it comes to posting pictures---i don't know where to begin.
I should of organized my brain before I tried to post something.

I read that Calendula was great for keeping certain insects away from squash plants==such as stink bugs, white flies, aphids, and the squash vine borer. I also heard from someone in Canada that Calendula would not grow well in the south cause it likes cool temperatures.

I would like to NOTE that we have had a cooler Spring than normal but have seen many days that the temps reached 90 degrees F. The Calendula is still growing strong and there are no insects on my squash plants. I grew 2 plants with each squash plant.
I want to grow the Calendula around all my peppers, eggplants, squash and tomatoes in the future. I know that would be a lot of plants but compared to the results of not having to use insecticide or messy plants due to white flies, its worth it.
The Calendula plant starts out looking like a loose leaf lettuce, then it gets tall flower stems and the flowers look similar to marigolds.

Well....... Let me start with the house.
I don't know what I have posted in the past== don't have time to view over it.

We decided not to build a landscape timber home.
It is a regular stud wall house.

This is the main floor.======pardon all the messes.
We will have to lower the deck later on.

The greenhouse plant sales are over with. Sold Out. Didn't grow enough.

The greenhouse tomato plants. some that are in pots, some in grow beds.
The ones in pots are trained like they would be if they were in sfg beds.
The ones in the long grow bed are whole plants in cages. The bed soil needs more
vermiculite before it is considered Mels Mix.

Carolyn, congrats on selling out all you tomato plants.

Those tomatoes look so good and mine aren't even in the beds yet Sad But it seems to be a warmer spring for us and a bit more sun than last spring too. So there is still hope.
