gulp - kale going to seed
Sigh, while I was uncovering some seedlings next to my kale, I noticed it was starting to go to seed. just little swelling flower heads that were still in the crook of the leaves. I gasped and pinched them out, tossing them on the ground hoping this will make like it wasn't ever happening. Then I got my head together - some things are just going to happen. But oh the shock of the demise of my first harvest for the year (these carried over from last year).
So, my questions are
1. if I pinch the flowers will it extend the season?
2. anyone eat the flowers? how do you prepare them? any good?
Of course, I also forgot in my shock, that the very spot that the kale is going to seed is where some of my peppers will be wanting some space in just another month.
Oh the emotions of my garden lol

Re: gulp - kale going to seed
I would try pinching till time to rip out next month. Cook some and see how bitter they really are. But then I like mustard and turnips greens and they are bitter from the git go.
