Re: Hello from Ohio
Hi Linda and welcome to SFG!! I am not from anywhere near you....but wanted to say hi! I am in central British Columbia in Canada and we are still waist deep in snow. SFG is wonderful.
There are a lot of wonderful, helpful people on here. If you have any questions just post and someone will try and help out. We like to share our wins and our losses. Some have gardened for years, others are only beginning. Some have row gardened and then switched to SFG. So we are all at different stages of learning and that is what makes this place so much fun.
We are glad you joined us.

Re: Hello from Ohio
Welcome aboard.
People here are more than willing to share experiences. No question is too dumb, even if you think it's been asked a thousand times. Pictures really are worth a thousand words. You will fit right in.
We aren't too far apart, nationally speaking. Do you live closer to the Ohio River or the Lake?

swtinnct - welcome!! I get so excited when another southern Ohioan joins the forums! Are you closer to Indiana or West Virginia? (I feel like this is a game.) I'm just east of Cincinnati in Mariemont. Did the flood affect you at all? What will you be planting?

Welcome
Welcome to the forum, Linda.
Don't worry about posting photos from your cellphone. That's how I do mine and it seems to work okay. (I'm very techno-challenged, but Boffer's directions made it seem easy.)
I'm looking forward to hearing how your garden grows. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. There are lots of nice folks here happy to help if they can.

I am jumping on the Ohio Wagon
I am from Ohio as well Linda, Madeira to be exact so we are neighbors of a sort
This is my time on these forums and my first year with gardening using the SFG method and my wife and I can't wait to start. We have the wood for one box now and plan on a second shortly. I am hoping that we get our Mel's Mix ingredients this weekend and start planting shortly afterwords.
I look forward to sharing my photos and experiences this spring and summer with everyone. Hopefully there will be more success stories then failures but only time will tell.

Welcome to the forum, Wolfheart.
I can't wait to see your photos. Please share your failures as well as successes with us - although we hope you don't have many of those. We celebrate your successes with you, but we learn from your failures.
Keep us posted.

Wolfheart
Glad to have you join us. You will enjoy SFG, because once your beds are built and filled with Mel's Mix, this is truly an easy way to grow your veggies.
:Looking forward to hearing about your progress.
Again, Welcome.

Northern KY SFG
Welcome to the area! My friends and I do alot of SFG in northern KY near Cincinnati. If you have any questions about the area about anything gardening related, I would be happy to help you out! Just send me a message!
It would be great if we had some sort of SFG southern Ohio NKY website for all of us.... a project to keep in mind for sure.....
I just joined these forums finally, I put up a post titled SFG Project in Walton, KY in the Welcome Mat, check it out
http://www.ca.uky.edu/agc/pubs/id/id128/id128.pdf
Here is a link to a wonderful resource for anyone living in KY and really Cincinnati as well. It is published by the University of Kentucky and is a wonderful tool for gardening....

Re: Hello from Ohio
Just a thought: With so many of us , maybe a meet n greet could be in order when the season slows down, seems somewhere along the river would be central to everyone involved. How about the Waterfront? LOL J/K. ( had to say it)
my couponing buddies and I do meet n greets in the area about twice a year. This year it will be held in NKY. It's really nice to put a face with a user name.
like I said before: just a thought.

Good Idea
That sounds like a good idea, maybe even a harvest party. I am planning to have one near the end of the season down in Walton, maybe even turn it into a benefit concert for raising garden funds for our project. Also, we should start a meetup group on meetup.com.... I think I researched it before and there isn't one but there is a waiting list.....

Re: Hello from Ohio
I love the idea of the meet and greet! So is the waterfront you are speaking of Nancy's community garden? JK I belong to a couple of groups on meetup.com already, a playgroup and a group of my friends I never get to see. It's a very well organized site, I'm not sure how much the fee is, I know I pay about $20 a year for one and $8 a year for the other(it depends how many members are splitting it)

Hello All!
I connected with Glendale-Gardener this evening, and she directed me to this thread (Thanks!). As a newbie it is great to see so many people from the Cincinnati-area involved in SFG! I live just north of Cincinnati in Mason, and would be very interested in joining you at a meet-n-greet. I joined the forum a year ago after running across Mel's book, and thought that I would have a garden in no time, but I got paralyzed by the effort to get all of the materials together, and ended up missing the season altogether - Sigh! I've recently logged back in and now I have the materials for building my boxes. I planning to set up my first SFG next week if the cold, rain and snow (today in Mason!) would let up. Hopefully by the time we meet, I'll be a legitimate SFG'er!
