Has anyone tried Sleeping beauty melon?
I ordered seeds from Baker Creek for this year. My melons didn't do too well last year. I made slings for them, but the melons were too big & I should have re-done my slings, but didn't. "This variety produces lots of small, sweet melons that have succulent
orange flesh. Flattened fruit are netted and have yellow tan colored
rinds. Compact vines are ideal for small gardens, and those who grow in
raised beds."

My melon plan for this year is to use buckets. I have a large old blue tarp that I plan on spreading out on a flat section of ground & planting melons in buckets, letting the vines run on the tarp. The blue tarp is a light-medium blue, so hopefully won't be as hot as black. We'll see how it goes. I'll probably have to keep the vines pruned.

I have seeds of:
Sleeping Beauty, Kolb's Gem, Orange Glo, Sugar Baby, Moon & stars, Burrell's Jumbo, and Lady Godiva (naked seed) pumpkin.

I'm laid up in bed with the flu, so between bouts of napping, moaning (I am a firm believer in NOT suffering in silence) & coughing, I'm adding everyone's blogs, checking out seed catalogs.

Feel better. Moaning is certainly acceptable behaviour when you feel yucky.
