I watched some videos by Laughing Dog Farm owner, and he said that a true permaculturist will always try and find shortcuts. As an example, he brought up a story of wilting scallions that he took from Whole Foods store for free, as they were carrying them to the dumpster, and stuck them into the ground to see what happens. By the end of the season they turned into beautiful Spanish Onions. I figured "I want that!". I had some scallion "stubs" sitting in my fridge for too long. They won't be used for salads, surely, so into composter they would go in a normal scenario. But I noticed, that the roots were very bushy and fierce looking, and some of the scallions grew new spears. I stuck them into a seed starter for now, and into the garden they go tomorrow. I'll update here when I have beautiful Spanish Onions
