What has been your biggest challenge?
Mine unfortunatly has to be my hubby - love him tho I do. We have been working this weekend on building the drawer base for our new tempurpedic matteress and the ONLY thing I asked was for his help in pulling down the plastic panels for the garden frame. (They are 4'x10' corrogated panels, and NO LUCK!!!!! Anybody want to come over and help? LOL

Re: What has been your biggest challenge?
I have a couple challenges. I have a very destructive and active 2 year old, and I am seven months pregnant, due 2 weeks after last frost. I'm trying to get as much done as I can before having the new baby, and I am starting a bunch of seeds, that hopefully won't be thrown around my kitchen like they did last year
Hard Question
Where to start....
1) My impatience.
2) Lack of funds to really extend my SFGs the way I want to.
3) Lack of time to devote to becoming the self-sufficient gardener that I really want to be.
Ok, the main thing is my impatience. I want it all and I want it now!!
The grocery prices are rising so fast that I REALLY want to start fruit trees and various berries, a large asparagus bed, make a much larger vegetable garden area and build a chicken house.
I get tired just thinking about this wish list! lol

Do I hear Veruca Salt of Willy Wonka fame?!
I am impatient too. I want the 4 feet of snow to MELT! I am hoping that by the time I get back from vacation the snow will be mostly gone - we have left the poor kitty/house sitters to the task of shoveling the several tons expected to fall this week while we are in warmer climes!

You know you have the heart of a gardener when you calculate your child's birth according to the frost dates.
Loved it.

patience
the cat. the cat that killed my 8 inch tall greenbean plant yesterday. and, before someone asks. i didnt realize what type of beans they were until yesterday when i was contemplating why one of them had grown a loop in it. i thought they were pinto beans when i started them.

Biggest gardening challenge
Deer and elk. But hopefully that will change with new fencing around the garden. Walking around the garden yesterday showed a herd of elk had been inspecting the fencing and eating down the remaining pasture grass nearby. Hopefully they've left some pellets nearby to be added to the compost pile. Nonna, St. Helens, OR

Re: What has been your biggest challenge?
Little helpers are definitely a challenge (though also my greatest joy) around here. Other than that it is the heat and the bugs and diseases, which are related to the heat because they multiple like crazy with our almost endless growing season. So #1 would have to be the heat...months on end of 78 lows and 96 highs...if it could just be 5 degrees cooler on each end I'd be in heaven!

My family, my job, my car, my pets, shopping, cooking, housekeeping chores, phone conversations, internet browsing, sleep. Anything that's keeping me away from SFG!
