Hello everyone. This is my 3rd year of SFG. The first year it did great, didn't have enough time to do much last year, but this year I'm ready to go! I'm in The Colony which is a suburb just north of Dallas, south Denton County, and have got some seeds started already. Just joined the forum and would love to see & here about what everyone is planting!

Howdy!

I'm way at the other end of the state, but just wanted to say Howdy from north of Dallas 396615

I lived in Denton for 4 years, and 30 minutes north of Denton (Gainesville) for a little while just a couple of years ago. You'll find this is a great forum!

Thanks everyone. And yes, we had a lot of snow! Of course, everything was shut down for days and then all of a sudden the last few weeks have been gorgeous! In the 70s and even low 80s. We got a mild cold front and today just the 60s but I am definitely okay with that. Knock on wood, it will stay mild for the rest of the year. This was the coldest winter I can ever remember and I've lived in this area my whole life, sans 4 years in east Texas for college.

Hi Neighbor!

I'm in Garland. We are into our 3rd year of SFG and love it. Our daughter is in Grad School at UNT. We've noticed just how different the temps, weather, etc can be on any given day from Garland to Denton!

You are going to love this Forum.

And this weather lately has been something else sunny. I think we deserve some good weather after what we had earlier!

SweetTxMama,

Do you use hoop-houses to extend your growing season?

I'm very near you and still harvesting last years lettuce, arugula, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower and most herbs. My fall onions, garlic, peas and beets are just starting to grow again and I've got my spring tomatoes in.

I haven't used them yet but may in the future. The first year we just had 4 basic boxes. Last year, we put up a fence around them after we found our Lab/Aussie mix puppy & easy access to garden do not mix.

This year, we were thinking of adding some type of covering but haven't made any definite plans. So far, we are just starting out in the basic boxes again.

Our 2 very active elementary-aged kids are forever busy with school & sports-related activities in the spring so it's hard to find the time to get things done.

Howdy from north of Dallas 396615 Adam,

This Texas contingent just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I guess one of the reasons is you all are starting to get warm enough weather to do some planting outside.

We are so happy you joined us.

Please let us know how you heard about us and what you are planning now. We enjoy hearing about everyone's plans and experience.

We absolutely love pictures and feel free to ask questions. We have lots of members who are willing to help you along.

Again, Welcome.
