Cool! Nice job.

NOW I know what I can do with all that spare steel in my garage! Smile

Mind letting us in on which wheels you used and how you keep the barrel in place when rotating?

Post  The Cat's Other Mother 2/15/2011, 10:17 pm

There are two posts on the ends that hold it in place, and the wheels are 3 inch. I moved my half-done pile into it this afternoon, and it nearly filled it. It's very difficult to turn now, and I'd be glad to get any suggestions on a fix for that. I'm wondering if it might not be better to be less full, both for ease of turning and for better mixing of contents.

Compost Tumbler - Page 2 2011-111 This isn't finished but here is my son and I showing you the air tube that runs the length of our compost barrel. It is 2in ABS pipe with holes all through it and caps on both ends with holes. Plenty of air flow. This has been a fun project for me and the boy. Worms next week. In thier own bin not the tumbler.

Very nice! I built my own a couple of years ago too.
Compost Tumbler - Page 2 IMG_20111009_074455
I am going to build another one soon. I drilled way to many holes in it in my opinion. It is really easy to turn and does a fine job, but I think the edges around the holes dry more quickly than I like.

@ nKedrOoStEr I like your stand. Have you thought of an air tube down the middle? I haven't tried it yet but I think it will work great.

Happy Gardening I love you

I haven't. On my tumbler I went hole crazy and would actually like something more enclosed so the edges won't dry so much. Maybe I should consider it! I pretty much have an endless supply of these barrels for free. Or I should say more than I could ever use alone. So maybe I will give yours a whirl afro
