Last week I made 4 SFG beds, and filled them. This week they are under 18" of snow.

How discouraging that must be! Hang in there; based on last year, in just a few months, you'll catch up with the rest of us, and in the end, beat me by a country mile!

According to the 3 main groundhogs, spring will be early. According to the Farmer's Almanac, where I live is not yet done with winter until late March early April.....

Thank goodness for seed catalogs over which I can mull and dream because today this is how my garden looked after another ten inches of snow.

They predict a lot more for Feb so I don't expect I'll be out in my garden anytime soon here in southern Maine.

I am going to finish moving snow sometime today and settle in with a catalog soon. I swear it. If it would only stop snowing for a few days... Shocked

I am determined to get my hoop house in by Feb 25th. I've already got seedlings inside forcing the deadline.

But, fwiw, I don't see an early spring around here (STL). I think we may be heading well into March from what our long-range forecasters are saying.

There have been years that I've seen daffodils peeking through the ground in the last week of January. I don't think I've seen the grass but for a week since Christmas this year. No daffodils yet...I promise you that.

Where I live (northern MN) we still get frost the end of May. Hence my username. Sad

I checked out Mel's book from the library several days ago and can hardly put it down! At least now I've had some very nice dreams about gardening! study

Welcome Cabinfever. Love the name. LOL! People always talked about cabin fever up in the Yukon so your name brings back wonderful memories. I find it interesting that northern Maine has such similar weather and frost dates to where I live in central British Columbia. Mel's book is great reading.

60 degrees today! Worked on the garden by removing all the litter from the winter. Started a large compost batch today.... looking forward to warmer temps. The forecast is for 50+ degrees all week!

I think (and am really hoping) that we've received our last snow for the season. It's all melted now and the daffodils are about 2" tall.

God bless you all up in Canada and Minnesota and New England! I don't know if I'd be able to last into late May with frost!

So far the 3 times it has hit 60+ on the therm, we have been nailed by severe T-storms....lost power twice. I haven't ever seen this crazy activity so early in a year.

I don't know if I would trade power outages for the snow again, but I'm tempted. Seems lose/lose either way until Mother Nature calms herself down a little.
