Thudnersnowstorm
I've seen it once in my lifetime, it happens, snow with thunder and lightening. This AM brought a thunderstorm to my house, but we had rain. Oklahoma had a thundersnowstorm.

RE: Thundersnowstorm
FarmerValerie,
Hubby got up around 4:45 am Dallas time. Soon after I heard the thunder, then the blitz of sleet and wind. I had to go to work today, but Hubby stayed home and worked from home (Why-Oh-Why did I pick a Medical based profession?). Drive in to work was tense, but OK. On the way home got to practice the "rock" method to get going again in ice. A Good Samaritan came along and pushed me off to save me from my inches of progress.
We put our little winter veggies that we planted last fall to bed last night with an extra freeze cover blanket and a kiss
We'll see what makes it. We had freeze cloth over hoops to begin with and then layered more freeze cloth on the poor babies. If they don't make it, at least they went out happy due to last Sat, Sun and Monday!
I'm going to investigate some greenhouse type plastic for next year to go on top, and go from there....
We were so worried about this wind, too... It has been ferocious. DH checked today when out with the dog and looks like the top layer held through the wind, so we're keeping our fingers crossed (dog is a Westie and was disappointed not more snow! Ice, yukky, snow, great)!
That ThunderSnow was impressive! Hope to not experience again soon.
Stay warm!
Jane

Re: Thudnersnowstorm
We had thunder and lightning with our last snow storm here in the Mid Atlantic region. It is incredible to watch and everything lights up because the snow reflects everything.
My boxes are still under a few inches of snow and ice but this is slowly melting. I hope your garden survives.
