Interesting Raised Beds
If you're looking for interesting ideas for raised bed variations go to alibaba.com and type in "raised garden beds" in the search area.
When the page pops up, you'll need to scroll down a bit.
Enjoy!

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Re: Interesting Raised Beds
I thought this was a really interesting idea for a raised bed... http://www.instructables.com/id/Natural-Wood-Raised-Garden/
I'm not sure I'm patient enough to make one, but it sure is pretty.
Wow! I hadn't thought of using corrugated steel like road railing as a raised bed! Interesting idea...

Interesting! I'm sad that when I apply the country of origin filter nothing comes up for Made in the USA.

Agreed. But nothing says we can't MAKE them here in the USA. : )

Re: Interesting Raised Beds
Does anyone have any ideas about where to get connectors and/or road railing? I'd love to give that a try.
Re: Interesting Raised Beds

Is this the road railing box? To me it looks like metal corrugated roofing available at your favorite big box store. If it was road railing, most of the forum members wouldn't be able to pick it up!
Re: Interesting Raised Beds
That one looks like it could be Ondura, which is more of a semi-flexible rubber-like roofing, but I think one of them said that it was made of corrugated metal that was painted. Using Ondura isn't a bad idea, but I don't know what fasteners are available, how difficult it would be to cut, and I don't know what kind of plastic it's made from. It's an interesting idea, I'll have to take a look next time I'm at the co-op. I know they carry it because we considered using it on our lean-to, but went with metal roofing we already had.
Re: Interesting Raised Beds
Alibaba.com doesn't have any Made in USA because it's primarily an online marketplace for Central and East Asian manufacturers...it's sort of an Etsy-type listing site, and is mostly aimed at business-to-business linkups.
It also comes with a double helping of Buyer Beware...I've heard of some pretty audacious scams originating from some less-than-honest sellers.

Agreed LaFee. I wasn't promoting the SITE, just the IDEAS contained therein.

Re: Interesting Raised Beds
I love the way that looks and I just happen to have a bunch of bamboo cured and ready to cut now all I have to do is figure out how to afix it to the table top. I hope it turns out to be as pretty as the branches.miinva wrote:I thought this was a really interesting idea for a raised bed... http://www.instructables.com/id/Natural-Wood-Raised-Garden/
