Hello from the sunny nature coast of Florida
Wanted to drop in and say hello and introduce myself a little
Im originaly from NJ but moved to florida 13 yrs ago, 2 seasons ago my girlfriend (now ex) started a tradional garden with the kids i thought it would be a good thing to help bring us all together boy was i wrong once the kids saw all the work and effort that was needed to make the plot and maintaine the garden they wanted nothing to do with it so it all fell on me.
This state has to have some of the worst soil for growing anything but weeds lol so i searched online and learned how to amend the existing soil, man what alot of work that was coming from a state where you just throw seeds on the ground and they grow i didnt understand the undertakeing this project was going to be. all said and done we had a decent first year crop of tomatoes, cucmbers, cherry tomatoes and some corn. A gardening friend told me about this book so down to the local books a million i went and purchased "the all new sqaure foot garden" i read it cover to cover in about 2 days time and not being someone who is very good at math i was able to grasp the concept in record time i have since built 2 4x4 box's jsut finishing up the grid work today, now comes the hunt for the mix wish me luck.

Florida soil
ChokSaw:
I once teased my brother in Northern Florida that his soil needed everything but [u]sand.
He was able to successfully grow a traditional row garden, but, the cost in time was excessive and he eventually let it go back to the weeds. If we had had the 'ALL NEW' system back then he might still have a successful garden.
God Bless, Ward.
