Wine Country Safari
I have lived in Temecula's (CA) wine country for 5 years but have not really taken advantage of it. Today I am having some friends by and we will do the vineyards and come back here for snacks.
I was going to pick some lettuce, spinach, peas and dill to make a salad but decided it would be more fun, and fresher, if we do that together when we get back.
I LOVE my garden. And the SFG setup makes it easy to bring guests into for this kind of activity as opposed to a traditional messy row garden.

Re: Wine Country Safari
Chopper, what a great idea. You get to do something interesting to many (I love wine tours as long as I remember not to sample toooo much :drunken: ) and then bring them home to experience your SFG.
I'm sure most of my friends and yours have never had the opportunity to enjoy a fresh salad that they have been able to help you prepare right from the garden.
Hope I can remember this next summer and early fall when my new table tops are producing.

A light went off with one friend who thought it was certainly the answer to how to grow in our horrendous soil without spending years amending it. He was quite intrigued. The other ones live in an apartment in the city so not so likely. Everyone went home with door prizes of carrots and sweet potatoes.

Good friend
Sounds as though your friends had a memorable day. What a thoughtful friend you are.
